I marvel every time I read those two verses. Jesus, who is the truth, stood right before Pilate the governor. Pilate did not listen with his heart to Jesus’ words. He was swayed by the Jewish people. He gave in to the crowd. He clearly rejected Jesus though he knew that he was innocent.

When I was young I had a kaleidoscope. Just a tiny twist and the whole scene would change before my eyes. Reading the four gospels is like looking through a kaleidoscope. Each one gives a little different view of Jesus’ life. Each one helps us more truly know the one who said, “I am the way, the truth and the life…” (John 14:6)

John was one of Jesus’ disciples that walked with him on his journeys. His writings are summed up for us in John 20:31. It says, “But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”

I love the absolute truth of God’s word. It is eternal, and cannot be changed or altered in any way. His truth is recorded for us from Genesis to Revelation. Do you believe its truth for yourself?

Thank you Father for your unconditional love for me. Thank you for your truth which is absolute. I am so grateful that you are the same yesterday, today, and forever. Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection has given me a living hope that will never disappoint.

Throughout this day: think about what it means for you to listen to Jesus’ voice, the voice of truth.
