In this passage, we see that this place was tightly closed. It had a huge stone wall. This allowed restriction of movement in and out of the city. No one could leave, and no one could come into that place called Jericho.
When we face a wall, what do we do? Some things seem to be impossible. Joshua had recently taken over from Moses. He’s living his calling. He could have complained, “Why, God? Why do you choose me to handle impossible situations?”
Have you ever wondered why you find yourself in a place that seems too hard, “Why God? Why me?”
Read Joshua 6 if you can. In verse 2, the Word came to Joshua, “See I have given Jericho into your hands…” I have given the phrase said, not I will give. Joshua believed what he heard.
Joshua and his people did not go into battle. All they had to do was to listen to and do as instructed. So, they marched around that place for six days and on day seven; they blew trumpets and shouted as guided. The massive wall fell.
Jericho was in their hands. A victory that came with obedience only. It wasn’t how clever they were, nor how strong they were. It was God’s plan. He did it through Joshua and his people. We need to approach life with God’s perspective.
The wall of Jericho represents difficulties. What is God saying in your situation? What has God delivered into your hands? Nothing is too hard for Him. He can give you a breakthrough.
Father God, I ask you to guide me about what I need to do every time I face a wall. Strengthen me so I can get on board with your plan in Jesus’ name I ask.
