Have you ever seen someone who is free-spirited and lives by the motto, “Whatever, whenever”? They’re not concerned about managing their time or planning ahead. Maybe some of us are a bit like this or have trouble managing our time well.

In this verse, we can see that we’ve all been given equal time. We receive 24 hours a day, no matter who we are and where we live in this world. The question is how do we use our time? Do we wait for opportunities to come or do we use our God-given time and efforts to create opportunities?

We all want to be successful. We each want to have victory in our own personal battles. We work hard for food. We want to get ahead with our finances and in our education. We know it takes hard work to achieve these things. But sometimes, no matter how hard we try, we don’t always get the outcomes we hope for. No matter what, whatever we do, we need to commit our plans into God’s hands beforehand. We need to ask God to guide us and trust that he will give us grace to choose the right things to do. We can ask him to help us not waste the opportunities he gives us.

Verse 12 says, "no one knows when their hour will come.” So what are we waiting for? Let us seek God in our decision-making. Let us plan and do what is worthy of God’s time.

Father God, grant me the wisdom to make the most of my time and to do things that are within your will. Help me to make the right decisions and to trust you with my choices. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Throughout the Day: Two questions you can ask yourself when you’re making a decision regarding an opportunity offered to you or one you’re creating: 1. How will this decision impact me in the long term (eternally)? 2. Will this opportunity lead me to go where I want to be in my life and where I sense God is calling me?
