“I instruct you in the ways of wisdom and lead you along straight paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hampered; when you run, you will not stumble.” Proverbs 4:11-12

A few years ago, the Lord gave me these verses as I contemplated moving to Florida to launch my new life coaching practice. While I prayed about it, God made each step of the way clear and never allowed me to fall off the path He had for me.

One day as I was sitting on the beach, God showed me how the Gulf Coast birds moved and walked slowly, taking one step at a time. Eventually, I watched them fly confidently and freely. I felt He was saying to me that He would instruct the way I should go. And that I just needed to be patient, like these birds, and take it one step at a time.

That day, I also observed fishermen waiting patiently as they cast their poles and nets and reeled in their catch. I was reminded of Jesus’ call to be “fishers of men,” that I am called to share the Gospel with all who I come in contact with — including my clients.

Once I moved to Florida, I called my business Next Steps and included a pelican on my logo to remind me of God’s presence and purpose in my life. God clearly showed me the path to take and how He could use me to impact the lives of others. Though my life journey (and yours, too) will always include bumps and falls, God is faithful. He picks me up and redirects me to the abundant life He has planned for me.

Thank You, God, for always leading me on the straight and narrow path and for ordering my steps perfectly. Amen.
