In the past, when I planted seeds in my vegetable garden, so many things didn’t grow well there. Or if it sprouted, most of the time it died later. Maybe it was a lack of sunlight but sometimes it was my fault as I forgot to look after the garden. So, now I plant things in pots which I can leave in a spot where there’s enough sunlight.

I like to plant herbs. Cooking is something that I enjoy doing. So, there’s nothing more exciting than going to the pots and grabbing some fresh herbs that I grow myself for my cooking. I love that.

Once I had some potatoes with sprouts that weren’t good for eating anymore. I planted those potatoes in a large pot in a spot with plenty of sunlight. At first, I watered them, and watched, but nothing happened for a long time. One day, as I was looking out my kitchen window, I saw beautiful leaves that popped up from that big pot. I almost couldn’t believe it. The seed potatoes had grown. You see, I forgot that I’d planted potatoes, but mother nature didn’t forget.

The kingdom of God is like seeds. We’ll get opportunities along the way to plant seeds. God provides those seeds. I could have put those potatoes in the bin and I wouldn’t have those plants yielding multiple potatoes. But I planted those potatoes as seeds. Apparently, one potato plant produces eight to ten potatoes. Wow!
Spiritual fruitfulness also depends on whether we use the opportunities, that may appear to be quite mundane, to plant spiritual seeds or not.

Sow your seeds wherever you choose to. God himself will multiply those seeds. That’s how it works in the Kingdom of God.

Ecclesiastes 11:6 says, “Sow your seed in the morning, and in the evening let your hands not be idle, for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well.

Father God, next time an opportunity appears for me to plant seeds for your Kingdom, give me what it takes to plant, knowing that I need to only plant and that you are the one who decides what seed will grow and when.

Throughout this day: Sow your seeds. It can be a smile to someone you don’t know, finding the right words of encouragement for someone who is not good at something, having a cup of tea with an elderly person even if you have to listen to the same story again and again, or speaking about the Lord when it’s the right time. You name anything that you’d like to do to share with others. That’s all God asks of us. Plant! Plant and he will grow the seeds at the right time for his Kingdom.
