“…but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted  with the gospel, so we speak, not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts.” 1 Thessalonians 2:4 (ESV)

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above.” James 1:17a (ESV)

“Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.” 1 Corinthians 4:2 (ESV)

God has placed the treasure of the gospel into your hands. He’s also given you gifts and talents. And He requires us all to be faithful to carry on His mission. Put today’s three verses together and what do you get?

You get a super fun way to reach people for Christ!

Three years ago, I had very few friends who weren’t followers of Jesus. I basically lived in a Christian bubble. Today, I have many non-Christian friends and feel very comfortable hanging out with them. What changed?

I simply decided to take something I love (music) and start doing it in the community.

For ten years I led worship. But when I moved towns, the new church I started attending already had enough musicians. My creative juices were bottled up and I felt frustrated about not having a creative outlet. But God spoke to me clearly through the encouragement of a close friend. I knew in my gut that it was time to sing to those who don’t yet know God. It has been an amazing, exciting journey.

The Great Commission doesn’t have to feel like a chore or an obligation. What could happen if you took something you love (maybe a sport or a favorite pastime) and started doing it with people who don’t yet know the love of Jesus? You don’t have to force anything to happen. God sets up all the friendships you’ll have. You just have to have fun, depend on His Spirit, and go along for the ride!

God, You are the Father of Lights who gives good gifts. I thank You for my gifts and talents. Please help me to use them to make You shine and known to others. Amen.
