“Lord, what do you see when you look at me?” At first, this question felt bold, maybe even foolish, but it came from a place of heartfelt honesty. I thought I was doing okay, just a step away from perfect, believing I was following Christ. But as I dug deeper into his Word and joined a Bible study group, the truth began to unfold. It was like an X-ray of my soul, revealing things I had never seen before. It wasn’t easy, but it was necessary.
The Lord started working in me. I didn’t just want to know what he saw in me; I wanted to be transformed to reflect more of who he is. This transformation wasn’t without difficulty, but it was unavoidable. The journey often felt isolating, but it was all about creating space for God’s voice to speak.
I committed to seeking him every day, setting aside time for my "date" with Jesus. Over time, that became a habit, and the more I pursued him, the more he spoke through his Word, bringing encouragement, correction, and sometimes, a warning.
Like Abraham, who went in obedience without knowing the full picture (Hebrews 11:8), we too are called to trust God, even when we don’t have all the answers. Abraham’s obedience shaped his faith, and our own obedience will shape our spiritual journey.
Let’s be intentional about our spiritual growth. Just as a plant needs the right conditions to grow – sunlight, soil, water, and care – we need the right environment to cultivate our faith. It requires effort and sacrifice, but the first step is the most important. Will you take that step today, trusting God to lead you toward transformation? The growth will be worth it.
Heavenly Father, help me to grow in faith and obedience. May I trust you fully in every step of my journey and create space for you to work in my life. Guide me as I press on, trusting in your plan for me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Throughout this day: Plans to succeed at work, school, or in other areas are great, but spiritual growth needs a plan too. Start small; read one chapter of the Bible, add 10 more minutes in prayer. Protect your quiet time and watch how God moves when you make him a priority. Trust the journey, embrace the growth.
