We can trust God to take us where he needs us to be.

When Abram decided to journey back from Egypt towards the land God had promised him, he went with his wife, his workers, and Lot, his nephew.

God had multiplied both Abram and Lot’s livestock so much that there wasn’t enough room for both crews. The lack of room to move and find enough food for their livestock became a challenge.

Well, Abram suggested they separate. For the sake of peace. However, he selflessly offered Lot the freedom of choice of land available in the area. When he did, Lot chose the luscious green valley. Having given Lot the first choice, Abram trusted God with whatever was left. Even though he didn’t get what seemed to be the best land, Abram prospered in his spot. In fact, once Abram and Lot separated, God renewed his promise to give Abram the promised land. (Genesis 13:14-17)

Later he even had to rescue Lot from trouble that arose in the “better” land he had chosen. God was powerful enough to handle that.

This passage displays so well that we don’t need “works of the flesh” to be where God wants us to be. We can live peacefully with others as much as it depends on us despite life’s challenges. Our job is to watch over our own hearts to ensure we stay close to God. As we draw near to him, he can do something amazing with us just where we are and as we are.

Father God, help me trust you even when I’m not sure if the decision I’m making is the right one and even when it seems that putting someone else’s interests before my own might really put me in a difficult place. Thank you that you absolutely know where you want me to be, and that is the place that will be best for me.

Today's Challenge: Before making decisions, let’s remember to pray for God’s guidance. We can speak to him anywhere.
