Every day we are faced with choices. Whether it's choosing what to eat, what to wear or what to say, how we choose will reflect not only our level of spiritual maturity but how much we trust God.

Oftentimes, we place too much importance on what we see when we have to choose. If the choice looks easy then we may quickly go with what's before us. If the choice looks difficult then we will ponder on it until the final decision is made and we walk away satisfied. Either way, we must ask ourselves this; was God first in the choosing process? Or did we move forward on our own, without the direction of the Holy Spirit?

God gives us the freedom to choose but it is by faith that we trust God and do what he says to do. When making life choices or difficult decisions consult God first, listen for his voice and trust his process. Choosing without consulting God will take you down a road of destruction and leave you wondering where you went wrong.

Those moments when we have made the wrong choice are the perfect times for God's grace to step in; like a sailor adjusting his sails, God will turn us around and send us into the right direction, if we allow him to. God wants his children to live and breathe in his manifold blessings. The only way to do that is to stay in constant communion with him and allow him to direct your path.

When was the last time you made a choice without God? Knowing what you know now, how will you make choices in the future?

Lord God thank you for allowing me to make meaningful choices. I am so grateful for your promise to lead and direct me as I trust in you wholeheartedly. Please teach me to always consult you and to choose what you tell me to choose.
