I was fourteen years old when I was introduced to the internet. It was great. I could now send emails, play games, and research topics for school, using a big box of a machine, a keyboard, and the wonderful sound of dial-up internet!

Obviously, the internet has changed a lot since 1998, largely for the better, and so has the way we live, work and seek entertainment. When I was a child, my local mall had a video arcade that was bursting at the seams with young people playing games. Now, that mall is being torn down and young people play games at home or on their phones.

So, what else has changed? One thing is for sure, the gospel has not. Two millennia after Jesus shed his blood on the cross, he is still offering hope and healing to those who seek it. And with the advancement of technology, our opportunities for ministry impact have grown, too! Even though face-to-face ministry is still important, now travel is not necessary to reach people around the world with the gospel.

I have just joined staff with Power to Change Digital Strategies (P2C DS), working in content development. As I prepare my support presentation, today’s scripture keeps coming to mind: Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest’. Yes, the fields have already been white for the harvest since Jesus’ time on earth, but as P2C DS emphasizes, “The world is online…” That is a huge mission field! So what do we do? “...we help them know Jesus.” And you can, too!

Dear Jesus, thank you. Thank you that as the world grows and changes, our opportunities for ministry grow and change as well. Help us seek to reach out, every day, with your comfort and your love. In Jesus' name, amen.

Throughout this Day: Think of some ways the internet impacts your day-to-day life. What are some ways you can make an impact online by using the internet to reach others for Christ?
