Jesus once told a parable about a man who found himself in torment after his death. He begs for a person being comforted by Abraham to return to earth and convince his brothers to repent so they won't suffer his fate. But Abraham replies that those who do not heed the Scriptures will not even believe someone who appears to them after death (Luke 16:19-31).

Jesus proved this to be true. Even though he rose from the dead to eternal life, many who were aware of the facts refused to believe in him.

How then can people hear about Jesus in such a way as to believe? Who will bring the message to them?

We will. Being shown great mercy, we are compelled by the love of Christ to speak so others may experience eternal life with God (2 Corinthians 5.14-21).

We are approved by God and entrusted with the Gospel (1 Thessalonians 2:4) found in the Scriptures. What an honor the King bestows on us who believe! We preach a full-hearted return to God through faith in Jesus Christ, not just with human words, but with his Word. Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.

Fellow pilgrims, we are Christ’s ambassadors. God is making his appeal through us, imploring all to be reconciled to God. How beautiful are the feet of those who bring the good news (Romans 10:15) of eternal life with Christ!

Gracious Father, thank you for speaking to me in my darkest hour on the earth. Thank you for allowing me to carry your Gospel to everyone I meet. Help me to spread the Word. Amen.
