Have you encountered circumstances that you don’t understand? Life is beautiful but life also happens. There are times when it appears that the situation is too far gone, too hard, too much to bear. So, how do you choose to respond?

In this passage, God asked the prophet Ezekiel to speak to dry bones in a valley. Those bones represent the issues in the valley of life. God asked Ezekiel, “Can these bones live?” Ezekiel was smart enough to reply, “O Sovereign Lord, you alone know.”

While the bones were still breathless, God asked Ezekiel to say, “Come, breath, from the four winds and breathe into these slain, that they [the bones] may live” (Ezekiel 37: 9). As God heard His own words being spoken by Ezekiel, He did as He promised. He attached fresh tendons, flesh, and skin to those bones. They came to life, stood up, and appeared like a huge army.

As Ezekiel did as God instructed, he would have heard his own voice speaking life into those dead, dry bones. His spoken words would have painted a new picture in his mind, reviving his own faith. Our faith is built as we listen to positive words in Scripture. When we speak God’s Word and trust Him, even when we don’t understand, it gives Him something to work with. Just like Ezekiel, we should speak the solution God provides in His Word into our seemingly impossible circumstances, and then choose to believe it will happen.

Heavenly Father, I thank you for your powerful words. Forgive me for negative words that I have spoken into my future. I ask you to cancel all those negative words. Please strengthen me so I can speak your words by faith into my circumstances, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Go Deeper — Is there a circumstance in your life that you would like to see changed? If yes, find one positive, result–orientated Scripture relevant to your circumstance. Keep that Scripture handy and use it to speak the solution into your situation, strengthening your faith that God will act according to His will and in His time.
