When I was a child I had a kaleidoscope. It fascinated me. The whole scene would change through just a small twist of my hands. When I read Ephesians 3:10 about God’s manifold wisdom, it reminds me of the various scenes of my kaleidoscope.

The Greek word for manifold is in two parts. It means much, varied, or many-colored. God’s wisdom cannot be adequately defined in human terms.

God amazingly uses the church, the body of Christ, to display his wisdom to the rulers of darkness. The next time you are in a trial, remember that you are representing Jesus’ character to that realm.

Colossians 2:3 says, “In whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” He is our source. When our faith is deeply rooted in him, we can ask Him to give us the wisdom we need to navigate our trials, hardships, and adversities.

God created all things through his wisdom for his purposes. Colossians 1:16 says, “For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.”

Father God, how astounding that you use the church to display your manifold wisdom before the evil rulers. I praise you because no trials that I have gone through were in vain. Your character of goodness and mercy sustained me. Through all my trials your wisdom was on display to those in the invisible realm.

Throughout this day: Our text for today says God displays his wisdom through the church. If you are a part of a local body of believers, a church, consider one way he has shown his wisdom in your church, perhaps through a person he has brought there or an event you have witnessed. Thank him for how he has displayed that wisdom, and consider sharing it with someone else to encourage them.
