Of the many narratives that have happy conclusions, this one may top them all.

A prisoner was wrongfully accused and neglected in his hour of need, but now the plot had abruptly shifted. It must have been a normal day for Joseph, getting up to his usual routine – little did he realize that his life would take a dramatic shift in his favor. The king's dream and subsequent interpretation from the Lord, given to Joseph, resulted in a complete 180-degree turn. It was unexpected, and no one could stop what the Lord was doing in the life of his servant Joseph.

God chose that moment to raise and restore his servant. No one in Egypt could interpret the king's dream except God. God used men like Joseph to accomplish his goals. Once Joseph interpreted the king's dream, not only was his freedom restored, but he was elevated to a position of highest honor and authority. What an extraordinary status change overnight: from prisoner to second in the kingdom! The distinction the monarch showered on this young lad on that fateful day must have filled Joseph with gladness.

But Joseph's training for that day had not been easy. Any other person would have given up, but not Joseph, who had complete faith in the Lord. Did Joseph the prisoner ever imagine he would find himself in this position? I doubt it.

When God moves, he does things that are above and beyond our comprehension. This narrative demonstrates God's power in the life of a person who submits to him. Our lesson is that God is still active in human affairs and that he will make everything beautiful in its time. (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

Thank you, Lord, for reminding us that you are actively involved in the affairs of humanity, even when things seem hopeless. As you turned Joseph's life around, please do the same for me and all those who trust and wait on you. Amen

Throughout this Day: Take some time to reflect on this entire chapter, and let Joseph's story motivate you to keep continuing in faith until God's purpose in your life is fulfilled.
