Waiting for something that seems as though it's not going to happen can be frustrating. Thoughts of getting an important package, an important phone call or a reply from the boss can be both exciting and disappointing. Daily, there is hope and anticipation for what we are waiting for but as the days continue, and nothing has happened, the feelings get more negative.

Waiting on God can have that same effect. When waiting on God, there is a level of expectation needed during the waiting season and that expectation is patience and hope. When we are patient we can hear God clearly and do what the Spirit tells us. When we are hopeful it ignites our faith and we stand firm on the foundation of God's word. It's at that moment that we bend and don't break.

God wants us to wait on him. It's okay to be excited, it's okay to be in expectation of what you are waiting for. However, God wants us to stand in faith and trust his process. Trust that he has heard your prayer and that he is faithfully working on the best option for you.

Take the time out today and focus on your faith. Although you are excited, take a moment to examine the waiting process. Are you standing in faith, trusting the outcome of your prayer or are you worried about whether God will even answer your prayer? Faith gives us hope of what will happen while anxiety gives us a rush that will ultimately end in disappointment.

When was the last time you waited on God when it seemed as though he wasn't coming through? Did you fret? Or did you stay planted, waiting on the salvation of the Lord?

Lord, teach me to wait on you. Those times when I fret and become afraid, help me to feel your presence and give me comfort in knowing that you heard my prayer and you will answer when the time is right.
