“And I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to Me, says the Lord Almighty.” 2 Corinthians 6:18

The family is our link to our past and the bridge to our future. Indeed, the family is the nucleus of civilization. We don't choose our families. They are God's gift to us. My family means more to me than words can describe.

Family is not just an important thing. It's everything. Family means no one gets left behind or forgotten. The bond that links true families together is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's lives.

For those of us who are Jesus followers, we have an extended family that includes the Lord Jesus Himself; I suggest that no earthly family is complete without Him.

I think the great songwriter Bill Gaither nailed it when he wrote, “I'm so glad I'm a part of the family of God. I've been washed in the fountain, cleansed by His blood! Joint heirs with Jesus as we travel this sod, for I'm part of the family, the family of God.”

So just what does it mean to be a part of the family of God? We are baptized and washed free of our sin, as we are cleansed by His blood. As we traverse the journeys of life, He is our constant companion. He is not family to us, He is family with us.

Lord Jesus, I want You to be an everlasting member of my family. I open my heart and invite You in to be my King of Kings and an integral part of my family. Amen.

Take Action

What does your family mean to you? How empty would it be if Jesus wasn’t a member? If He’s not part of your family, ask Him to be at the center!
