I believe God is powerful enough to grant you and I the desires of our hearts.
All things are possible for those who believe.
However, God doesn’t grant all of us all the desires of our hearts. If it was so, there would be a lot more mess in this world!
Do all my desires line up with God’s will?
Do I delight in the Lord? Read Psalm 1:1-3
When I present my heart’s desire to God, he’s got a decision to make. And that’s easy for him.
Does he want me to have what I desire? Is what I’m after based on his purposes for my life?
Will this desire work for me as his loving child? God can see further than I can.
I believe that because God loves me, He wants things to fall into place for me.
For example, if I desire to move, I can either look for a house in an area I would love to live, Or I can ask God where he believes it’s right for me to live so I can receive his guidance.
If my desire is to please God, I will care about what he thinks. He cares about what’s best for me too.
For example, if I know where I want to live but the doors keep closing on me, I can persist. However, if that’s not what God wants for me, I’ll know, as it won’t happen.
When my desires intersect with God’s desires, it makes it easy for God to give me what I’m after. Not that God wants to control me, but he knows me very well and he knows what will work for me.
Regardless of my ability to witness it, God is working to fulfill my needs and desires that are within his will.
Father God, I commit the desires of my heart into your hands. Assist me in aligning my thoughts and desires with yours. Purge out of my heart what is not of you, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
Throughout this day: When you’re unsure if your desire lines up with what God wants for you, ask God for what you want. If he wants you to have it, he’ll give it to you. If you can’t get it and he doesn’t reply to you, maybe it will happen later or else. Thank him anyway. And above all, trust God. Trust that he loves you enough to care about what you’re after.
