“He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” Mark 16:15

What is it like to share Christ with people?

When one of my sons was about 9 years old, I took him to hockey try-outs. We went into a locker room where two other parents were getting their sons ready. My son was having a conversation with one of the dads and then my son suddenly asked, “Are you a Christian? Do you know Jesus?” There was an incredible silence; the dad muttered something and hurried out. I later explained to my son that sharing Christ is usually not done quite so abruptly and bluntly. My son said, “He looked like such a nice man and I wanted to make sure he would go to heaven.”

It is difficult to share Christ. We live in a culture where everyone can be unique and different, yet, when it comes to standing up and sharing Christ, we all tend to have the “cringe-factor.”

One of the key reasons it’s so difficult to share Christ is quite simply because we don’t know how to do it in a relevant way in today’s culture. When we are taught how to start conversations and transition to spiritual things in an effective way, suddenly, we have the boldness that is appropriate and we are much more effective.

Pray for God to give you opportunities. Take some time to learn some simple steps to be more relevant in your approach. Thelife.com has some great tips to help make it natural for you to share God’s love with those you connect with.

Lord, I pray that You would equip me to share the gospel. Give me the boldness I need as well as the tools to tell others about You. I pray that You would give me the opportunity to share about You today.
