Ezekiel 37 reminds me of a horror movie. Valleys of bones, flesh appearing on skeletons, skeletons rising up into an army — it’s disturbing. Yet that passage gives me hope. Because honestly, I have some disturbing areas in my life. There are broken, bone-dry areas, and I wonder if life will ever be breathed back into them.

Maybe you’ve felt that way too. Maybe there are parts of your life that have been left for dead. Lost dreams or damaged relationships. I’m sorry. I know it’s hard. But don’t give up hope. Our God isn’t stopped by brokenness.

I love how when God asked, “Can these bones live?” Ezekiel says, “Sovereign Lord, you alone know” (Ezekiel 37:3). The way God breathes life isn’t often what we’re expecting. It may not happen in our timing or way, and Ezekiel knew that. But when God told Ezekiel to prophesy to the bones, Ezekiel faithfully obeyed despite it seeming illogical and hopeless. And you know what? Those dry bones became a living army.

Speak life to the dry bones in your life. Speak God’s Word over them and ask for his healing. Ask him to turn the shattered pieces into an army, so that you may fight for his kingdom. Just because something died doesn’t mean it’s permanently lost. Our God has the power to breathe life into death.

As God leads, faithfully speak life and truth over your brokenness. Trust that God has the power to resurrect the bones in your life. Then watch what he does.

Lord, thank you for the healing you give us. I surrender to you the dry, broken, hopeless areas of my life. The things that have died. You have the power to resurrect them, and I trust you with them. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Throughout the Day: Read Ezekiel 37:1-13. Write down what encouraging words you find in the passage. Pray them back to God today and thank him for what he can do in your life.
