You should know that for many years, I’ve had trust issues. Whether with people or situations, my bond with confidence has been shaky at best, often due to being betrayed by those people and disappointed by those situations. That is until I met him; my Savior, the Creator of the universe. Almighty God who began restoring my trust and healing my heart.

As I progressed in my faith journey with Christ, God’s Word became paramount in solidifying the identity I was always meant to embrace in being born again as a member of God’s family. I was adored, loved, adopted and accepted. I was also protected and nothing spoke more clearly to me about that than when I first read Psalm 91.

Not only did God receive me as his beloved child when I was saved, but he made a solemn declaration to me through this Psalm. It had become so powerful in my life that I began having dreams demonstrating protection from pestilence, chaos and the destructive behavior of natural disasters.

Those unconscious events made way for the reality of everyday life, when God would save me from dangers on the road while driving, at work and even in relationships. The obvious shelter of the Lord upon me, as his child, cemented my trust in him and rebuilt it, slowly, in others.

Today, that level of trust in God for my life has been incredibly liberating and I have no fear of what may come my way. I’ve also forged trustworthy and affirming friendships with many sisters within my church family. To trust God with all that I am is to trust who and what he brings into my life along the way for his purposes.

God’s proven promises of today’s verse and within the entirety of Psalm 91 stand as a guarantee to us as his sons and daughters. Fear and death have no place in the presence of God’s sovereign security as part of our salvation. So, while you may be challenged to trust people or uncertain circumstances, walk in confident faith that you can always trust God.

Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of complete trust I have in you. I’m grateful that as I grow in my faith, I will be more and more able to trust others and the situations you have allowed in my life according to your will. I praise you! Amen.

Throughout This Day: Reflect on and answer the following questions: How much do you trust God for the people and situations in your life? Is your trust in people directly proportional to the trust you have in the Lord? What can you do differently to increase your trust in your heavenly Father? God’s Word clearly speaks to God’s trustworthiness in your life. Dig deep into the promises he gives you. You can trust in him completely.
