Revealer of Mysteries

In ancient times, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon besieged Jerusalem and took the people of Israel captive. During that time, after a troubling dream, Nebuchadnezzar demanded that the magicians and wise men of the land not only interpret his dream but tell him what he had dreamed, or he would kill them. These wise men included Daniel, an exile faithful to God. Daniel pleaded with God to reveal the mystery — and God did.

Cool story. But what does it have to do with us? Both the prophet Daniel and Nebuchadnezzar, the king of a pagan nation, referred to God as “Revealer of Mysteries” (Daniel 2:29,47). The truth that God is the Revealer of Mysteries ought to change our lives.

Paul says in 1 Corinthians 2:9-10, “However, as it is written: ‘What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived’ — the things God has prepared for those who love him — these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.”

Since God never changes, we know God still reveals mysteries to His servants. God reveals these things — unseen, unheard, unimaginable things — to us through the Holy Spirit. Through the Spirit, the Revealer of Mysteries, we know our purpose. God made us to know Him and serve Him. God reveals Himself to us. Through the Spirit, we know our destiny. God prepared a glorious place, with Him, for all who surrender to Jesus and confess Him as Lord.

We aren’t alone trying to navigate life. Like Daniel, when we passionately seek God, believing that He speaks, we will hear from Him.

Holy Spirit, Revealer of Mysteries, show yourself to me. Teach me to trust you like Daniel did and believe that You hold the solution to every situation I face. Amen.
