“Is that a Bible you were reading?” I heard her voice while lying on my back under a leafy tree at the athletic park. Exhausted from work, I was feeling convicted to be a human being not a “human doing”. Sitting up and squinting, I saw a lady who looked Indian. Although she introduced herself as a Reiki master healer,* she was interested to know more about Jesus. Ripping bits of grass, I spent fifteen minutes telling her about the grand story of salvation.
“How do I get the Holy Spirit?” she wondered. At first, she seemed to have it all together but later she shared that she and her husband didn’t know how to help their adult son with his problems.
How amazing that when I was depleted and taking the time to refresh myself in his word, God answered my previous prayer for an opportunity to share his love.
You never know who is watching you. Acts 1:8 says we receive power from the Holy Spirit to tell people about Jesus Christ. I wasn’t planning on going out to share Jesus, but he dropped the opportunity into my lap. Be ready in season and out to share his word. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not (2 Tim 4:2). He will give you the strength, and the words to say which that person needs to hear. He is calling you to be his voice to the nations, starting from right where you live, which may well include people from many other nations.
Dear Lord, thank you for giving me opportunities to share your love and truth. May I take them, relying on the Holy Spirit’s power and not my own. I am weak but you are strong. Convict others of their sin, your excellence and your coming judgment.
Throughout this day: Confess your fear or anything else that may stop you from witnessing about Christ. Receive his forgiveness because of Jesus’ shed blood and ask the Holy Spirit to fill you with his boldness and power to share.
