“Jesus said to him, ‘Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.’” Luke 19:9-10

He bit his lip when the pastor began talking about Zacchaeus, the money-hungry tax collector. For a moment, he hadn't seen any relationship between the greedy Bible character and himself. He was a middle-aged man with a successful business and family. Many years before, however, he too had experienced the brokenness that comes from pursuing fulfillment from money and power. The sermon had hit an uncomfortable nerve.

Maybe you can relate to a desolate life before you knew Christ. In your attempt to move forward, it’s easy to forget that God found you while you were in a dark place. If you neglect to remember this season, others will miss out on seeing the full picture of your life and what God has saved you from.

So in your efforts to grow in your faith, meet your life goals, and help the world, don’t forget to share your testimony. It’s helpful to remember a “Ready, Set, Go!” mentality to respond to the urgent call to share the gospel. Even if you just became a Christian, you are ready to share. You are definitely set for life now that you can claim His promise for eternal life as well as peace, joy, and a host of other wonderful blessings here on earth. Now go! Share how God came to seek and save that which was lost, including you!

Dear Jesus, thank You for loving me enough to save me from my life of sin. Thank You for stirring me when I was lost to Your promises and hope. I pray You would guide me to those whom I can tell of Your amazing hope. Continue to fill me with newfound hope each day so I can give out of the fullness You have offered to me time and again. Amen.

Take Action

In our verse about Zacchaeus today, Jesus invited someone into His life who didn’t fit into the stereotypical religious rubric. Who in your life is in need of Jesus’ comforting freedom? Ask God to show you how you can tell your story to him or her. Remember, if you know Christ, you have something amazing to share: you can tell others the reason for the hope, peace and joy in your heart!
