The wear and tear of every day life can take its toll on our faith and strength. We face a huge variety of joys and challenges.

Prayer is our place of power. It’s the place where our capacity is increased to withstand that wear and tear ― and to even give joyful thanks as we do so. Prayer is the best gift we can give each other. It’s the most effective thing we can do, even though it often feels like our last resort. It’s our greatest privilege and our deepest responsibility.

Prayer is what believers do. As you pray this prayer for yourself or for someone else, know we are praying it for you today too.

Heavenly Father, thank you that you know each of us and the very place we lay our heads at night. Thank you that, as believers, we can pray for one another. Please grant your divine wisdom and understanding in the decisions we face. So often we don’t know what to do. Thank you that your Spirit guides us as we listen and read your Word. Help us to guard our words and attitudes today. May our lives reflect your love and joy and peace. May we be strengthened with your power in us so that we can experience increased capacity to withstand the wear and tear of the day with patience and even thankfulness. We give our praise to you for being in our lives and offering all we need right where we are. May we feel embraced by your presence. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.

Throughout this Day: Take a look at the full passage of Colossians 1:9-12. Ask God who you should pray this prayer for today. Read it through again, praying this scripture with that person’s name in it. What a privilege to collectively enter the place of power and pray for one another today.
