No one cared that he died without descendants. (Isaiah 53:8b, NLT)

Maybe, based on the life you’ve lived, you don’t have descendants. Or, the way things are going, unless there’s a miracle, you might end up without descendants.

If your desire is not to have descendants, it’s great. However, if you feel like you’re the forgotten one, you’re not alone.

When we think about Jesus’ life, we tend to forget that he was sent to the earth as a human. He was born in a body like us.

We don’t know how deeply sorrowed he felt for the affliction that was placed upon him for our sins. Our sins. Yet we do know that he left the earth without descendants. No one. Not one child left behind him on the earth. Yet, it has been turned around. The number of children he has far outnumbers those of everyone under heaven.

God’s wisdom is so different from ours.

Jesus was beaten. He was spat upon. He was taken for granted. He didn’t look important while he was on the earth; otherwise, they would not have killed him. Yet, he was important to his disciples. He was treasured by his family that God had placed him in. And Jesus is extremely important to us today as he is our Savior, Lord over our lives, our healer and much more.

Friend, sometimes we worry about what so-and-so did to us. Sometimes people can easily forget about you. You can lose importance in their eyes. That’s okay. If you feel forgotten, unimportant, wronged, think about how Jesus felt. However, he did not sin. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. He let them do it. That’s why they call him The Lamb. No one can understand how he stayed silent in the face of unjust death.

He did not open his mouth. So, do we really have to walk in unforgiveness? Let’s not even let our hearts be corrupted by pondering what is unfair or what shouldn’t have been done to us. Focus on the goodness of God. Let his Holy Spirit empower us to embrace purity of heart and true forgiveness.
Father God, we thank you for Jesus who came to the earth and showed us how to walk in love. He taught us with his life how to live. We’re so grateful to learn from him as he was so humble. Thank you God.

Throughout this day: Read Isaiah 53 NIV, (or any other version). Let it humble you and guide your prayers if you’ve been feeling unforgiving towards others.
