Years ago, I read the above verse, and I thought it made little sense. How can someone’s faith move mountains? It was unbelievable to me. Now I see things differently. What if today I say to you that the verse is true?

Whatever the Master said is true.

Now you’re probably thinking that I’m a fanatic. I get you. Give me a moment and I’ll explain how this can happen.

We’re not told in that verse that anyone who wishes to move any mountain they ever want will succeed. There’s one condition here. Provided you believe. And that belief needs to be in line with God’s will.

You might think, why do I need to bother speaking to a mountain? In this verse, the mountain represents an obstacle standing in front of you, preventing you from doing God’s will. So, everyone has faced an obstacle, right?

When we face such stumbling blocks, we need to believe that they can be overcome. To remove them, we need to speak to them. Unfortunately, sometimes we speak more about the hindrances to our walk with God rather than to them.

When we speak to a mountain, representing an obstacle, we need faith in God and his will to make it move. Without faith in God, it won’t move.

So, you and I need to grow in our faith. We’re not in control of when obstacles will show up. Yet we know it’s up to us to exercise our faith to overcome hurdles.

Dear God, help me grow in my faith so I can speak to the mountains of my life rather than about them, in Jesus’ name.

Throughout this Day: Find passages that speak of God’s will concerning your situation so you can pray in line with God’s will.
