“Mmaahhh!”

I flipped over and touched my husband’s back lightly, “How’s your head?”

His body convulsed under the covers. “I hit it again. It’s a 10.”

I groaned. Oh no. Another concussion.

He called out, “Help me Jesus!”

“Do you want to go to the hospital?”

He grimaced, “I can’t sit there for twelve hours again.”

I prayed against the evil one and began singing praises to Jesus for his victory over sin, death, hell and the grave. Kneading my husband’s toes, I prayed for him to relax and fall asleep despite the pain.

Somehow, the Lord took over and the intensity subsided. Mr. Rex fell asleep and finally I could too.

We were never promised a trouble-free life. God did promise to be there for us, listen to us and help us. Our suffering will result in us becoming more like Jesus and he will get greater glory.

Thank you Lord that you never ignore the suffering of your servants. You see us, you hear us and you fight for us. Help us to remember this in the dark times. Increase our faith. Help us to cling to you, especially in the dark times of suffering.

Throughout this day: Thank God for his presence and help in your time of need. Recall a time when he helped you and write it down so you remember to share it to encourage others.
