“…Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted.” Isaiah 12:4

Have you ever been so inspired by a life-changing experience that you were compelled to share about it? I remember the passion and urgency I had when I first encountered Jesus as Savior. With clarity and resolve, I enthusiastically shared my experience with family, friends, and acquaintances; however, like many other believers, over time, my passion and urgency digressed to unintentional apathy and neglect.

Throughout history, God has taken the initiative to make His Name known to those He longs to redeem. He empowered patriarchs, prophets, priests, and oftentimes, ordinary people to make His name known among the nations. At His appointed time, He became flesh to proclaim personally His Name among fallen humanity.

Jesus commissions believers to do likewise: “As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world” (John 17:18). We are called to be His ambassadors with our words and deeds, but do we faithfully embrace our calling?

With urgency and resolve, God implores us to make His Name known to those He places in our lives. We are the commissioned caretakers of His Holy Name – the Name above all names – the Name that saves. We could use His Name for personal prestige or profit, but He calls us to deny ourselves and to faithfully reflect and represent His Name with honor and integrity – anytime, anywhere, and at any cost. Does your life live up to His Name?

Dear Heavenly Father, forgive me if I have misrepresented You. Help me to live a life that reflects Your character and exemplifies Your Name. Show me who You want me tell about You. Empower me with Your Spirit and give me the words and wisdom to effectively have spiritual conversations. Amen.

Take Action

Today, reflect on Isaiah 12:4. Ask God for the names of two people He wants you to reach out to. Pray for them this week. Ask God for an opportunity to cross paths with them. Then be ready to show them love, listen compassionately and speak as the Spirit leads.

Sharing your faith can be a bit overwhelming. Here are some really helpful tips.

Let’s pray together! Share a comment. Who are you trying to reach for Christ?
