As Andy Williams’s song says, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year.” I find my social calendar filling up with Christmas parties, parades and church programs. There’s all the shopping and cooking for my family and friends; not to mention my favorite part of the holidays, decorating! The twinkling lights, festive ornaments and smells of Christmas fill my home. There seems to be so many things to do. I often feel I have no room in my schedule or mind for one more thing.

However, the one person I need to always fit into my holiday schedule is Jesus. His entrance into the world began in the humblest of circumstances, with people having no room for Him. I can picture Mary and Joseph traveling from place to place, their hearts filled with hope, yet met with disappointment.

They were met with "Sorry, no room" each time. They probably faced a few harsh responses and abruptly shut doors. A melody of no's that played a symphony of rejection in their minds. Until one person made room for the coming of the Savior into the world.

The “sorry, no room” echoes in my mind and is a reminder of how easily we can overlook what truly matters this season. Today, that same Savior of the world is looking for room in your heart. He's knocking on your heart's door and is asking one question, "Do you have room in your heart for me?"

May we show Jesus we have room for him. In all the chaos of the season make sure to prioritize him. We can do this by taking time this Christmas season to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Dear God, Amid the busyness of parties, shopping, and festivities, remind us to make room in our hearts for You. Amen

Throughout the Day: This holiday season, let’s intentionally create space in our lives for Jesus.
