One thing I enjoy doing is cooking for my family. I'm always looking for new recipes to try, and I love getting new gadgets and anything related to cooking. Knowing my love for cooking, my husband purchased a Blackstone griddle for me.
I was excited and searching for recipes to make on my new griddle when I came across a steak recipe. The recipe said to rub yellow mustard on the steaks before you season them, which I had never heard of before.
However, upon further research, I found that its purpose is a binder. It helps your seasoning stick to your meat and gives a nice, even crust. The food binder's role is to maintain and improve food texture. The mustard was a perfect binder. The steak was delicious and the mustard provided a nice flavor! The yellow mustard kept that seasoning on the steak as intended.
Love is a binder for our Christian walk, like mustard for steak. When love is intertwined, all aspects of our lives come together. We show compassion, truth, kindness, gentleness, and patience when we love. When Jesus walked the earth, he exhibited all these characteristics and was a reflection of love.
As Christians, we are to be Christ-like. Without love, we can't live like Jesus. Love binds all the Christlike virtues together and allows us to show God's love. Love indeed does bind everything together in perfect harmony and perfects our walk. May we all love.
Dear God, help us to bind our lives in love so we can walk in your footsteps. Amen.
Throughout this day: How can you allow Christ to bind you together with him today?
