“Because of that obedience, God lifted him high and honored him far beyond anyone or anything, ever, so that all created beings in heaven and on earth –even those long ago dead and buried – will bow in worship before this Jesus Christ, and call out in praise that he is the Master of all, to the glorious honor of God the Father.” Philippians 2:9-11 (MSG)

I have been telling people about Karen for over forty years. When I meet someone new Karen is often the first person I talk about. It’s easy to speak well of her because I know her so well. I’m proud of her accomplishments and delighted by her character. I love her. Karen is my wife!

It’s just as natural for me to talk about Jesus. I know Him so well and I’m so excited about what He has done for me. I love Him. When I meet someone new or connect with an old friend, it’s natural to talk about Him.

We will never be fully motivated to talk about Jesus if it's just out of obedience to the call, compassion for unbelieving people, or even excitement about eternal life. These are all great reasons, but they’re not enough. Our passion to be Christ’s witness must come from our deep love for Jesus! Our love for Him makes Him really easy to talk about.

When you read Philippians 2, are you struck by God’s passion for His Son? Everything that matters to God is found in and through Jesus Christ. Telling others about Jesus comes naturally when everything that matters to us is found in and through Him.

My challenge to you is: love Jesus! Get to know Him. Listen to His voice and surrender your will to Him. Confess your sin, receive His forgiveness, follow Him daily; worship Him always. Talk about your love for Jesus. YOU WILL BE HIS WITNESS.

Father, there is no one that You love like Your Son, there is no name that matters more than Jesus. Fill my heart with Your love and passion for Jesus. Let the witness of Jesus and the gospel spill over from my full heart and may people in the world be drawn by You to Christ. Thank You for changing my life. Amen.
