Do you find yourself going through the motions, feeling like something is missing? When I feel like that, I know I need to take a look at my life through a different lens. Why am I here? What is my life for? Who is in control of my life? What does Jesus want to accomplish through me?

As much as I know that my life belongs to Jesus, I often take control and try to live in the flesh. I do things with my own efforts and this leaves me feeling empty. I’ve given my life to Christ and He wants me to be filled with His Spirit. When I confess my sins and allow the Spirit to give me life, I’m empowered by His love and He gives me joy and strength even through some really difficult things. He walks with me and I’m no longer on my own. Life is never boring when I’m living in the Spirit.

God has a calling on your life. He has given you unique gifts to serve Him through the opportunities He brings your way. What are some ways that you can experience the Holy Spirit today?

Father, Thank You for Your life-giving Spirit. Thank You for the hope that comes with knowing how much You love me. Forgive me for the times I try to take control. Help me to trust You enough to let go of the steering wheel. Amen.

Take Action

Practice spiritual breathing:

Exhale: Confess your sin the moment you become aware of it. Agree with God that it is sin and thank Him for His forgiveness, according to 1 John 1:9 and Hebrews 10:1–25. Remember that confession requires repentance—a change in attitude and action.

Inhale: Welcome Christ back into the center of your life. Focus on Him and rely upon the Holy Spirit to fill you with His presence and power by faith, according to His command (Ephesians 5:18) and His promise (1 John 5:14, 15).
