Joseph was falsely accused and thrown into prison. The keeper of the prison committed all the prisoner’s care to Joseph. The king’s butler and baker were confined for some time, which meant Joseph saw them on a regular basis. Yet, one day when he came to them, he noticed they were troubled.

Joseph asked why. They each had a perplexing dream, but didn’t know what they meant. Likewise, Joseph did not know dreams were precursors to the pathway he would walk on, in order to fulfill God’s purpose in his life.

How attentive are you? Do you notice things that others overlook? I love to read about Joseph. Even though he was in dire straits, his heart’s attitude always pleased the Lord.

God’s favor on Joseph allowed him to advance in each situation. He strategically used each difficult trial to develop Joseph’s character. This eventually led him to become the second in command over all of Egypt.

Each morning I ask the Lord to open my eyes to see beyond the obvious, the obstacles, and the visuals. I want to be so attentive, so I do not miss what the Lord is doing in and around me. Nothing is by chance. God orchestrates every aspect of our lives.

Father, I am so grateful that you see into my heart. Thank you for your Word which instructs me on how to walk in the Spirit, and not give in to my flesh. Help me to always be attentive, so that I can do the work you have called me to do. Amen.

Throughout this Day: Invite the Holy Spirit to help you see your circumstances the way God does. Ask him to give you wisdom, discernment and motivation to do what honors him.
