I am in awe of how the creator of all things, came into this world for you and me to receive eternal life. He purposely chose to grow inside the womb of his virgin mother. For nine months he remained in a womb he created.
In Luke 1 an angel of the Lord conversed with a young virgin girl named Mary. He explained how Jesus would be conceived. Verse 35 says, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.”
I cannot imagine what went on in her heart. What astounding news that she would bring the Christ child into the world! When Mary heard what the shepherds said about Jesus, the Savior, the Lord of all, on the night he was born, Luke 2:19 says, “But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart.”
As Jesus stood before Pilate, at the opposite end of his life on earth, he proclaimed why he had come into the world. He who is truth came to die for everyone. He bore everyone’s sins as he hung on the cross. Those who receive Jesus into their hearts will have eternal life. Those who reject him, will enter into eternal judgment. Have you availed yourself of Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection?
Oh Father, how amazing is your love for us. Thank you for sending Jesus into this world to be born of a virgin, and to die so that we could have eternal life with you. I am so grateful that I received your gift when I was eleven. I love you and cherish my relationship with you.
Throughout this day: Take time to meditate on the fact that Jesus was born to die, and to die for each of us. Listening to this song could be part of your meditation: Born To Die
