Life can be so beautiful. Suddenly, along the way, ebb and flow occur, and you find yourself facing giants. Some of those challenges linger and what once was beauty around you fades to gray and drab as you cling to your hope that God will make a way. He will. Yet, the temptation to fear, fade, and fall away can become overwhelming.

When you are weary, tired, and doubting what you know to be true, God shows up with mercy and grace. These two characteristics of our amazing God offer compassion and favor. It does not seem like it in the midst of it all. BUT GOD – he is extending kindness and goodness to you in ways you will see one day.

Mercy is a gift from God that will be given to you in your life when things go wrong. Grace is a blessing offered to you on your journey when angst, weakness, and the desire to give up are your crutches. We all experience these moments, so do not be discouraged. Only know that God’s love will abound as you resist the allure to shut down, and instead, turn your eyes toward him.

There are options for overcoming the difficulties we encounter. One is to submit yourself to God. Another is to resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Both of these instructions are found in James 1:4.

As you choose to run to God and reject the invitations of the enemy, you will rest in the very words of Psalm 103:8. You will abound in the love of God. You will recognize his compassion. You will see he is slow to anger and patient with you. Years may pass before you clearly realize all God protected you from, provided for you, or perhaps even the peace you discovered. However, you will know it … one day. For he is filled with mercy and grace to you. The most precious awareness you will come to understand is that he will extend it time and time again.

Be blessed and know Jesus loves you so!

Father, today I ask you to help me recognize the mercy and grace that surround me by your hand. I am so thankful that in the middle of chaos, confusion, and craziness of life, you offer to me kindness and compassion. Thank you for your love, dear God. I pray that I am still and see you in the midst of it all. In Jesus’s precious name I pray. Amen.

Throughout the day, spend quiet time in God’s Word. Find scriptures related to his mercy and grace for your situation. Seek him and allow his love to abound in your life. Be still before him no matter the chaos or commotion. Recognize his presence in the midst of it all. He is with you and he loves you so much.
