I recall how surprised and humbled I felt a few years ago, when an older gentleman in our church came up and said, “I pray for you every day.” I was almost speechless, for it was someone I did not know all that well. In subsequent weeks he would sometimes stop me to ask how things were going in my life and in the online ministry here at P2C Digital Strategies / TheLife.com. Faithfully praying on a regular basis, praising God with each victory, encouraging during hard times – I knew he was a faithful prayer warrior. When God called him home to Heaven, I felt a real loss.

Since then, I’ve found others who were praying for me often, some daily. What a gift! On the tough days, God gently reminds me of those who are quietly, faithfully praying for specific needs in my life and in this ministry.

I’m sure the same story can be told by believers all around the world. None of us can do the tasks to which God has called us, in our own strength. We need God’s power at work within us, and we are part of a community of believers. Even the apostle Paul asked prayer from his fellow believers as he sought to share the gospel with the Gentiles. (Ephesians 6:19; Colossians 4:3; 2 Thessalonians 3:1)

Who can you encourage this week, by sharing your love, concern and prayers? Perhaps a call or a written note might lift a burden or brighten their day.

God, my days sometimes get so busy, and I can get nearsighted. Help me pause today, to remember those who are serving in hard places or who may be discouraged. Bring them to mind throughout my day, so that I can bring them by name to you in prayer. Thank you for those who have prayed for me so faithfully. Bless them today, I ask. Amen.

Throughout this day: Is there someone you might wish to write a note of encouragement or of thanks to today? Set aside a time to do so, if at all possible.
