Soaring like eagles. Think about it! God expects us to soar like eagles. It’s a big expectation for us human beings who don’t even have wings!
An eagle is a heavy bird, but it glides in the air with ease. When it wants to catch fish or another prey for food, it moves from place to place smoothly. It’s on the lookout! On the lookout for food. It moves on if that area isn’t right. It moves with ease, until it finds some prey; then, it catches the fish or small animal it has found.
How does the eagle glide so swiftly to carry what it has caught to its nest? Sometimes the food is heavy and the eagle’s nest is usually on a cliff or near the top of a large tree. Built to be more capable of handling altitude than other birds, it is also confident that it can win when facing danger. The eagle does not ignore dangerous situations and does not permit intimidation to take over. Often it can fly above the situation.
How much can we look down on adversity and say, “I know in whom I believe”? Can we say, “I know where my help comes from. Even though I’ve never faced this type of danger before, I know where my help comes from. My hope is in God! I have faith that not only he can help me, but I trust that he will”?
We do not have wings, but we have the promise of our faithful God! He says he will strengthen us to carry on in all circumstances. Let us trust him to make us soar like the eagle in the face of danger and adversity.
Heavenly Father, I ask you to help me soar like an eagle no matter what I’m facing. I trust that your mighty hand is greater than the adversity I’m going through.
Throughout this day: Think about and say: I hope in the Lord, and I renew my strength. I will soar on wings like eagles; I will run and not grow weary; I will walk and not faint.
