I am part of a musical family, and worshipping God with our voices is a part of our life. When I was a little girl, my mom taught me songs. One of them was "He's Still Working on Me."

There is a picture of a three-year-old me with pigtails and a microphone, singing, "He's still working on me. To make me what I ought to be. It took him just a week to make the moon and the stars, the sun and the earth, and Jupiter and Mars. How loving and patient he must be. He's still working on me."

At that young age, I had not grasped how I would continually grow in my Christian faith. Or at least, how I should grow. The song's gist is that God is working on each of us. As long as we are still on this earth, we are growing in our Christian walk. We should know a little more about God each day than we did the day before.

You would be concerned if you had a garden and your plants only grew so much and then stopped. You would try to figure out why your plants quit growing. We should have the same concern for our spiritual garden. We should be blooming and growing where God has planted us. It's part of the process and our purpose in life.

We can grow through prayer and Bible study. Our prayer and Bible study life should be consistent, and as a result, our faith should be stronger. We should be able to look back over the course of a year and see how much we have grown as Christians, and we should feel closer to God because of it.

The point is that we are still growing as Christians and will be until Jesus returns. So, pray and study God's word more. Listen to the Holy Spirit and let him guide you each day.

Dear God, I pray you work in my life and guide me along the Christian walkway of life.

Throughout the Day: Allow God to work on you today so you can grow as a Christian.
