Have you ever been in a vulnerable position where your only hope was a miracle from God? Maybe you're there right now. The Israelites were in such a predicament. As they fled the Egyptians, God led them to camp out by the Red Sea. As a survival strategy, this must have felt like a death wish. The fast-approaching Egyptians could now pin them against the shore and pick them off one by one. So they cried out:

“It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!” (Exodus 14:12)

But God reassured them through Moses: “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (Exodus 14:13-14)

They had a choice: look back at the enemy and wish they’d never stepped out in faith, or look forward and trust that God would fight for them. Of course we know what happened. God proved himself totally trustworthy and got all the glory.

Times of crisis and desperation aren’t fun at all. Our faith can feel threadbare. Fearful and confusing thoughts can race through our minds. But these seasons can become the highlights of our faith journey if we look to God and place all our eggs in His basket. The problem might not be solved as quickly as it was for the Hebrews, but God does have a really good plan custom fit for each one of us.

Lord, you are so much more resourceful than I can ever be. Instead of trying to work out for myself what feels like an impossible situation, I’m choosing to look to You. Please help me trust Your timing and your plans because they are way better than mine. Amen.

Today's Challenge: Look back on your life and thank God for ten ways he has been faithful to you. Then place your "impossible" situation into his more-than-capable hands. We would love to partner with you in faith for a miracle - tell us your prayer requests! How can we pray for you?
