Has it been a difficult season for you? Have you been on a journey that has brought more confusion than expected? Do you long for direction? I understand. In the last several years, our family has known back-to-back loss, unexpected challenges, and need for clarity.

During such life happenings, the only thing I know to do is run to God. There are those circumstances that only He can handle. Some situations have no explanation, no reason, no answer to the why. However, when I humble myself before God, his presence is with me. In that presence , he gives me rest. This rest is simply my amazing God wrapping his loving arms around me. In the midst of chaos, commotion, and confounding craziness, God’s presence offers a welcoming rest.

Many humans appear to give an image of perfection or something close to it. There is no such thing. We all have a story, and some are far more heart-wrenching than the outside world can begin to imagine. We grapple with grief in death, difficult relationships, and uncertain times beyond what we ever prepared for our days to include. We quietly go about our schedules with a false strength. This way, nobody knows because the judgment extended is too much to bear. What we don’t comprehend is that the harsh verdicts are only given so we cannot recognize the sorrow they are battling.

My prayer is that no matter when you encounter difficulties, you will seek the face of Almighty God and understand that he is near to you. God will far exceed the insurmountable frustrations that seem to envelop you. At that time, his presence will go with you. He will give you rest.

Father God, please help me endure through the hard times. I know because of you and your presence with me, I will overcome. Thank you for being with me, dear God. Thank you for giving me rest – especially when I don’t know what to do or where to go. I am grateful that you are with me. I pray this in Jesus’s mighty name. Amen.

Throughout the day seek the Lord for his presence through worship and praise. Receive the rest he so wants to give to you – no matter your situation. He is with you, and he wants you to know what it is to go in his presence. Live in the rest he has for you today.
