You’re probably familiar with the popular Christmas carol, O Come, All Ye Faithful. The carol beckons us to come with joy, to behold Jesus, who is the King of angels and Christ the Lord. It beckons us to come and adore Jesus. It is a beautiful carol which I look forward to singing around Christmas.
But what about those times when you don't consider yourself faithful? What about those who know without a doubt that they are unfaithful?
Although people dealing with guilt or shame may feel reluctant to come to Jesus, the reality is there is no reason to hide or run. There is incredible news for everyone who is unfaithful. Jesus came for the lost (Luke 19:10) and the spiritually sick (Mark 2:17). Jesus said he came for the sinners -- the unfaithful (Luke 5:32).
The good news of Christmas is that God sent his son to the world as Savior. The baby in the manger grew up. Jesus lived a righteous and faithful life and gave up his life on a cross to save those who would trust in him.
That is the message of this newer Christian hymn, O Come All Ye Unfaithful
.
The chorus says:
He’s the Lamb who was given,
Slain for our pardon,
His promise is peace,
For those who believe
Thank you God, that you love all the unfaithful, the sinners like me. Thank you Jesus, for giving your life for me, to take away my sin. Please remind me as often as I need it, to run to you, not away from you, when I realize that I have been unfaithful. Thank you for your wonderful gift of forgiveness and peace.
Throughout This Day: Remember, the only one who was faithful came to give us life to save the unfaithful, and then, by grace, call them faithful. Let's behold the Lamb who was given and slain for our pardon. Let's come with joy to adore Christ the Lord. If you think this would encourage or help a friend come to understand Jesus better please share this message and song
.
