Memories of childhood Sunday dinners flood my mind. My Grandma Mary Lou would cook every Sunday after church, not just for our family but for anyone who needed to eat and was around. We didn’t just have one dining room table – we had two tables full of people. The tables were laden with food, and no one was left hungry.

Grandma has always shared God’s love with others through hospitality. She wasn’t just feeding stomachs. She was feeding souls.

Her hospitality wasn’t about performance but about love. She always made cooking those big meals look easy. She was always welcoming to everyone.

Hospitality is more than just setting a table; it’s setting a tone. It’s showing love to everyone in the ways God has gifted us. Our hospitality can be a reflection of God’s love. We can be welcoming to others like Jesus is.

We can feed someone and fill their stomachs, just like God can feed us spiritually with his word. Jesus calls us to be his hands and feet. (Matthew 25:31-46). We can do this today through hospitality.

Dear God, help me to see the needs around me. May my hospitality be a reflection of you.

Throughout this Day: Take some time to consider prayerfully how you can reflect Jesus and his love through offering hospitality. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you people in need and make a plan to take action.
