Have you ever been in need? You may need healing or financial help. I would say we all have been in need at some point in our lives.

My mind drifts back to a time in my childhood when money was tight, and needs were frequent. My dad was a mechanic, and my mom was a teacher. Neither made much money, but they loved their jobs and depended on God to provide.

One day, God asked my Dad to give his last twenty dollars to a man in need. He questioned God because it was his lunch money for the week. “How am I supposed to eat?” he thought. God told him to give that money to the man in need anyway. So, my Dad did. He had fulfilled his part of God’s will. He then prayed and trusted God to provide him lunch for the week or the money. After all, God had always provided for our little family.

A few days later, my Dad went to check the mail and received a letter from a fellow Christian. Dad was thrilled to receive the letter but even more delighted to see what it contained. The letter read, “Brother, I’ve had you on my heart and have been praying for you. I hope you are doing well. God told me to send you a note and money.”

How much money do you think it was? It was a twenty-dollar bill! God had provided for my Dad and replaced what he had given. My Dad loves to tell this story for God’s glory. It’s a testimony of how God provides, as we are told in today’s key verse.

You may be in need and could use this reminder. God can handle all of our needs. There is no need too big or small. Trust in him, and he will equip you and provide for you.

Dear God, we are thankful that you are able and willing to be our provider. Please remind me to trust in you to provide for me when I am in need. Amen

Throughout the Day: Give your needs to God in prayer. Trust in Him to provide for you.
