We have all known a picky toddler, family member, or acquaintance. They are selective in food, clothes, and how you complete actions. We understand the familiar song and dance this involves.
We go through a question-and-answer session. “Do you like this?” “No.” “Ok, what about this one?” The question-and-answer session is a pattern. You are guided to what they like and prefer by asking these questions.
Proverbs 3:6 says, “In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” God, the ultimate guide, has a perfect plan for our lives, and it’s up to us to seek it out. Like the familiar question-and-answer routine, we can ask God, “Is this what you want for my life?” If the answer is no, we move on and ask again. Through this process, God will lead us. The key is to acknowledge him in every decision, every step we take.
As we are beginning the new year, take a moment to reflect: Are you actively seeking God’s direction in your life? The next time you face a significant decision or life-changing moment, remember that you have the ability to ask God to guide your path. He longs for you to acknowledge him and allow him to lead you.
Dear God, help me to look to you for guidance in my life. Help me always to be attentive to your advice. Amen
Throughout the Day: God will direct your path. Think about how willing you are to follow his direction.
