God’s power is available to us. This is not “our” power but the power of the Holy Spirit who lives in us. Those who do not fully know or understand God nor the Word try to live life out of their own power and knowledge. Our Scripture reading today clearly states that it is the Holy Spirit whose power is at work within us. He enables us to live life differently and to make changes in our life.

In Ephesians 1:17–20, Paul reminds us gently that, through the eyes of our heart, we are able to understand God working in us because of our belief and acceptance of his son, Jesus Christ. When God’s Holy Spirit comes to live in us, he gives us a regenerated heart. With this heart, we are able to renew our minds with his truth as found in Scripture.

The power that lives inside us is the same power that raised Jesus from the grave, healed a blind man, and saved millions. God wants each of us to experience this power so that we can understand the fullness of living a life that glorifies him.

If your motivation is to glorify God by the power of his Spirit within you, then he will answer your cries. Trust that he is powerfully at work through you as you yield to the Holy Spirit. Plug into this Spirit-power by faith, and feed that faith through Scripture and prayer.

Holy Spirit, come dwell in me and teach me to live by faith more and more so that I live in a way that glorifies my Father in Heaven. Amen.
