“For your Maker is your husband—the Lord Almighty is his name—the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.” Isaiah 54:5

Everyone longs to be loved. We want to be treasured and cherished and to know that we have someone who will love us unconditionally, no matter what.  The scriptures use the metaphor of marriage to describe the relationship God wants with each of us.

Intimacy with God can be difficult to understand if we think of God as stiff, rigid, cold and far away. But the picture of God as our spouse is a far cry from that.  It is the most personal, sincere and deep relationship one can have. Not only do we know that He loves us lavishly but He wants us to love Him in return. It is one of deep emotion, extraordinary action and daily affection.

When you love someone, you want to spend time together. Do you have a relationship with God in this way?  Do you understand how deep His love runs for you?  Do you know that He is faithful and will never leave you?

Even when we are unfaithful, God is faithful. He is perfect in love.  He is your Husband.

God, please help me see Your awesome love for me.  I want to know You more and love You more deeply.  I open my heart to receiving Your affection for me. I want to give You all of who I am so I may experience You the way You long for me too.  I want a most personal relationship with You, one of closeness and of intimacy. I love You.  Amen
