“Doesn’t the Lord care anymore about what is happening to us?”

I have heard this question over and over again, and honestly, I don’t have an answer that will satisfy everyone, especially in  light of what is happening all over the earth. What I do know, as is highlighted in Scripture, is the promise of God’s abiding presence to his people in the face of adversity.

The picture that is currently painted all over our television networks is one of brokenness resulting from sickness, pain, and death. Unfortunately, when we focus too much on brokenness, we can feel hopeless. If there was ever a time that humanity needed God’s intervention, it is now. Fortunately, he is willing to intervene because God is close to those who believe in him, even in such difficult circumstances.

Are you a believer in Jesus Christ who has had your spirit crushed for whatever reason? Find encouragement in God’s promise to you.

Have you experienced loss and you see no way out? Let the one who is close to the brokenhearted minister his peace to you. Allow him to heal your broken heart and bind up your wounds (Psalm 147:3).

Are you drained emotionally, is your strength fading, and is your heart sick? Lean on God —lean on his everlasting arms. Allow God, your Father, to heal your heart, comfort you, wipe your tears, and strengthen you so that you can arise in new strength to face the new day.

This promise is also available to one who turns to the Lord. For he will not despise those who turn to him for mercy and forgiveness of sin.

Abba, Father, thank you for the promise of your abiding presence. May you minister to us and give us strength to weather the storms of life. Amen.

Throughout This Day: Have you experienced loss of any kind in this season? Seek the Lord in prayer and reach out to a loved one or to one of our mentors for emotional and spiritual support.
