Every morning when we wake up, we have a choice to make and we have to make that choice over and over again throughout the day. Will we focus on our problems or will we do what we are responsible for and trust God with the rest?
Trusting God doesn’t mean that we do nothing whenever we have problems but it does mean to seek God in prayer and ask him how to respond to each problem. Then we can move forward with his wisdom and guidance. When I ask God how to respond to a problem, he often brings a Bible verse to my mind.
I experienced this recently when I was suddenly faced with a new health challenge. My initial response was to try to solve the problem and when there was no improvement, I became anxious. After experiencing unnecessary stress for a period of time I was reminded that God does not tell us to solve our problems ourselves. He tells us to pray about everything and that he will give us wisdom when we ask for it. So I took my problem to God and I asked him how to respond. He brought Matthew 6:33 to my mind. “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” l realized that God wasn’t telling me how to specifically fix the problem right then but he was telling me to keep pursuing him and the things that were important to him and to focus on the good path that he set before me each day. To keep mentoring, writing and caring for my family and that he would give me everything I needed.
After we do what we know to do, we are taught to trust God with the rest. 1 Peter 5:7 KJV says, “casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” Once I cast my cares on God, peace followed. My problem was not solved yet, but that’s why it’s called the “peace that surpasses all understanding” in Philippians 4:6. We can be hopeful because God‘s ways are superior to anything we could think of and his timing is perfect. One of my favourite verses is Isaiah 64:4 which says, “For since the world began, no ear has heard and no eye has seen a God like you, who works for those who wait for him!”
Trusting God means relying on him and putting our confidence in him even when we don’t understand. I relied on God’s grace for everything I needed to continue doing the good things he had planned for me (Ephesians 2:10) while I endured the challenge. Since Jesus is Lord over all (Matthew 28:18), he has a solution for every difficulty we face. So while we wait we can trust in him and do the good that he sets before us (Psalm 37:3).
Father God, thank you that you have a perfect solution for every problem that I face. Help me to stay consistent in reading the Bible and storing up your Word in my mind so that the Holy Spirit can bring it to my remembrance at just the right time. Help me to trust your wisdom and guidance as well as your promise to provide everything that I need.

Throughout this day - Reflect on the classic poem “Trust In God And Do The Right” by Norman MacLeod.
Courage, brother, do not stumble,
Though thy path be dark as night;
There's a star to guide the humble--
Trust in God and do the right.
Though the road be long and dreary,
And the end be out of sight;
Foot it bravely, strong or weary--
Trust in God and do the right.
Perish "policy" and cunning,
Perish all that fears the light;
Whether losing, whether winning,
Trust in God and do the right.
Shun all forms of guilty passion,
Fiends can look like angels bright;
Heed no custom, school, or fashion--
Trust in God and do the right.
Some will hate thee, some will love thee,
Some will flatter, some will slight;
Cease from man and look above thee,
Trust in God and do the right.
Simple rule and safest guiding--
Inward peace and shining light--
Star upon our path abiding--
TRUST IN GOD AND DO THE RIGHT.
