Can I let you in on something? The world tells us success comes from striving harder and constantly pushing ourselves. Hard work is not wrong, but is our hard work involving God?

David had a different way of living, and that is what amazes me about him. He seemed ordinary, yet he carried the heart of the Father. He pursued battles fully aware that his strength came from God. At times he waited patiently for the Lord, sought him consistently, and gave himself fully to walking with God. He did not suddenly wake up with God's presence upon his life. Long before the victories, his life had already been shaped in the fields tending sheep, in quiet ordinary moments where he was learning to trust and depend on God.

When we later see him prospering, it is not surprising. It is the fruit of a life that had already chosen God again and again. Even Saul could see it. David chose God daily, in private first, until his presence became evident publicly.

Can we purpose in our hearts this year to intentionally pursue God? I believe that when a life is truly surrendered to God, his presence cannot be hidden. In time, it will show in our lives, in our decisions, our character, and the fruit that follows us.
May we become people who are built in private, choosing God in our daily living. Faithful when no one is watching, until the evidence of God in our lives becomes undeniable.

Heavenly Father, I don’t want to just admire what you do in the lives of others, I want to live a life that carries the evidence of your presence. Help me be faithful in the hidden places and ordinary moments. Give me the heart of David to pursue you daily, even when it feels small. Cultivate in me intentionality, that my life may reflect you. As I draw near to you, I trust you will draw near to me. Amen.

Throughout this Day consider whether you are waiting for the big moments to seek God, or are you seeking his presence in the ordinary? Choose today to be intentional in your private walk with him. The fields you've been assigned may feel small, but they are shaping something eternal. Faithfulness in the hidden is what makes his presence evident in the open.
