I live in North Texas, specifically the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. There is a famous (to us anyway) interstate that runs through here called I-35. It is famous because it seems there has been a section of major construction going on since it began in the 1960’s. They are always improving it. We have a running joke in our house that goes, “Treat yourself like I-35 and never stop working on yourself no matter how inconvenient it is for someone else.”

There was a time in every Christian’s life when they were not a Christian. Some of us accepted Christ when we were young. Some of us in our teens, our twenties, and then there are some of us that accepted him late in life.

It does not matter when you accepted him, you are now part of the family and you are a new creation. Once you accept him as your Lord and Savior, the fun part begins. You get to see all the exciting ways you can become a new creation. Your old self is gone. The temptation to sin is still there, but you have the Creator of all life in you to help you overcome it.

Becoming a new Christian may be inconvenient for some of the friends in your life who do not vibe with your new-found faith. You will have to buckle up for the ride and be ready to shine no matter how they treat you because you have a friend in Jesus, and it is he who they reject not you. Never get tired of the construction that God is doing in you, rather endure, knowing that he who has begun a work in you is faithful to bring it to completion.

Lord, I am a work in progress, and though it may seem slow at times, thank you for making me into your image, a new creation. Help me be patient with myself and with others who are in the same process as I am. If others do not understand my changes, help me to continue to show them the reality of your Truth in my life and leave the rest up to you. Amen.
